Leaf Fun
We have been having so much fun playing in the Autumn leaves outside. We even made some leaf angels!
We have been learning to write reports about Autumn using what we have learnt from our experiences outside.

Handwriting Star
Joseph was the handwriting star for the Red and Blue Rooms. Congratulations Joseph on working hard with your learning. Ka pai! We are so proud of you!
Peaches
Last week we picked peaches from our peach tree behind our learning spaces. We met with Rooms 10 and 12 and got busy cutting them up into pieces, taking out the stone in the middle of the peaches. We worked really well with our buddies. This shows tuakana teina - sharing skills with each other. We were very careful with the sharp plastic knives.
The children who were in the hall made jam with their peaches. They had to use special jam setting sugar and got to stir all the peaches together with the sugar in the big pot. They watched the sugar melt from the heat on the stove top. Once the jam was set and we had tested it by putting it on a tray and running our finger through it to check, we were able to put the jam into jars which had been heated. The jars were then sealed. We look forward to being able to eat some jam in the Discovery Time cafe next term.
The children who stayed in the learning spaces, chopped up a lot of peaches which were then boiled up and put into small plastic containers. These were then put into the freezer. We will have to see what we can do with these throughout the rest of the year.
Thank you Rooms 10 and 12 for being such awesome buddies. We really enjoyed spending some time with you! We hope we can eat some peach jam and peaches with you later on in the year.
