A surprise package

We received a giant package.  We opened it and unpacked it together.  Our awesome PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at  Burnside gave our team $400 to spend and the teachers had a fun time purchasing some items for our team to use in their learning.  We would like to thank the PTA who do lots of fun things for us.  We are so super proud of our new things.

 These are flower plates and a giant magnetic tens frame.  The teachers will love using these and they might share them with us too.

We are going to make a thank you card for the PTA....I wonder which photo we should use....

Hmmm Yum!

The children in the Te Waka o Matariki group made chocolate Easter Eggs this week.  They melted the chocolate and poured it into moulds.  Then they stuck two halves together with some more chocolate so that we could have an Easter Egg.  They were delicious!

Grandparents Celebration

We loved having some special visitors to our team when some of our 

grandparents and Great Grandparents came to Piwakawaka.

Thanks for coming!  We hope you had a great time and enjoyed listening to all the things we like to do with you.  We hope you can come back again in Term 4.

Sharing our learning

Today during handwriting time Alex and Ollie were spotted sharing their learning with each other. It was great to hear them talking to each other about the size of the letters and checking that they were sitting on the line.

St Patrick's Day - Rainbow Day Celebration

We celebrated St Patrick's Day as part of our team focus on celebrations from different cultures this year.  We have a great teacher aide, Mike, who works in our learning spaces.  He is from Ireland so we thought this would be a great day to celebrate with Mike.

We focused on the rainbows and the different colours that we can find in these.  We made chains with pots of gold at the bottom, bead strings for bracelets and necklaces, hand print shamrocks, clouds with rainbows hanging which we made into kites, and potato print rainbows.

We practiced a lot of skills doing these activities and found out a little bit more about Mike and the country he is from.  It was a lot of fun and we had a lot of time to develop our oral language with each other while completing some new activities.
